If you have ever participated in any training to help you build your following, or studied anyone who has been successful with social media, then you have probably already seen the power of YouTube and how it can help you to build a community of people who love who you are and what you do.

So when it comes to starting and growing your own YouTube channel why does it make you nervous and anxious?

Let me guess..

  • You don’t mind working hard but you’re not sure where to start
  • You really like the idea of using video to deliver great content to your audience but you’re camera shy and forget what to say
  • You’re afraid that no-one is going to watch your videos or bother to subscribe

For the past few years I have been building a following on YouTube of dedicated subscribers and increasing my views and even though sometimes it can be difficult, building a following on YouTube is possible!  Whether you want people to buy your product, listen to your music or learn about weightloss – YouTube is for you!

What I have learnt in my experience is that there are four major myths that are to blame for people not creating a successful YouTube channel. I’m going to debunk these myths for you and show you how you can replace them with really powerful methods that work and that will make you wish you had started a channel years ago!

Myth #1: YouTube is a TON of effort and involves too much expensive technology

True. YouTube isn’t easy.

However, that’s doesn’t mean that it can’t be fairly easy when you learn how to do it and use the right plan to help you.

If you use a step-by-step plan on what to do (and what not to do) to start and build your channel you can turn what seems difficult and expensive into something that is easy and affordable.

You really don’t have to use the latest and most expensive equipment to create good quality content that people will love and keep coming back for.

So, yes, creating a YouTube channel is not easy but if you do the right thing in the right way – it will save you time and energy.

Myth #2: No-one will watch my videos

There is someone out there for everyone!

At the time of writing, YouTube has over 5 billion views every day! The growth and the statistics are quite impressive:

  • The total number of people who use YouTube is 1.3 billion
  • Over 3.25 billion hours of video are watched each month on YouTube
  • 300 hours of video are uploaded to YouTube every minute
  • 80% of YouTube traffic comes from outside the US

If you have ever worried about how to stand out amongst the crowd – then don’t! YouTube can be a pretty complicated platform and there are lots of different things you need to do in order for people to find and like your channel. You need to create good quality videos, upload consistently, know about SEO etc.

However, with over 1.3 billion people using the platform you can be sure that there is someone out there that wants to hear what you have to say. The key is making sure that you know how to build your channel correctly.

Building a truly effective YouTube channel involves 7 Key Stages (intention, audience, content, branding, visibility, engagement and community), all of which MUST be executed together in order for people to like and subscribe.

So don’t forget that YouTube comprises of many components and one won’t work without the other so you have to know all 7 stages in order to create a successful channel.

Myth #3 – It’s too late. I already missed the boat with YouTube!

Sure, you might be a little late to the YouTube party…

…but there’s always time!

It’s never to late to get started…

Never under-estimate the power of video!

Online video has grown massively over the last decade. Statistics show that this growth is sure to increase over the next couple of years and continue steadily. Statistics also show that people would rather watch a video than read an article.

YouTube is the second largest search engine worldwide after Google; it is also the third world most visited website after Google and Facebook respectively. With YouTube having over 5 billion videos viewed daily, you are sure to reach your audience either by having a YouTube channel or advertising on other people’s videos. With YouTube, you are sure to find a market for your product and services as long as you are able to sell it.

If you are yet to take advantage of the benefits you can get from having a YouTube channel, you may be losing your business more money than you imagined. So many entrepreneurs, including small business owners and even the DIY project owners, are attributing their growing client base to having a YouTube channel.

So even if your competitors are already using YouTube, you can gain a competitive advantage by learning the techniques and strategies that I’m going to share with you.

Myth #4 – I already have a channel on YouTube and know what works

Whilst it’s great that you already have a channel and know something about YouTube marketing, it’s important to remember that things change over time – especially social media.

Technology has changed.

Audiences have changed.

Attention spans have changed.

Generally, people change!

As we all know, algorithms change and platforms like YouTube work hard to encourage people to create more and more content, which in theory is great, but it means you always have to be learning how to stand out amongst the crowd.

In this day and age you really can’t just upload a video and expect people to watch it. There are a number of things you need to do to make sure that people can find your video and to get them to subscribe to your channel.

It took me many years to figure out the truth about YouTube. However, through testing and research, I finally found out the answer.
