This episode features an interview with Lora Leedham who is an award winning designer from the Midlands, based in Birmingham’s historic jewellery quarter. She creates ethical, contemporary jewellery, all handcrafted and finished, making each piece unique and subtly different to the next. She uses high end materials such as sterling silver, gold, platinum, conflict-free gemstones, Kimberley diamonds and handmade Venetian glass.

Even from a young age, Lora’s passion for design meant that she was designing shoes! She studied design and hoped to become an interior designer. However, after finding her love for jewellery design, she pursued her career within the field. Lora approached the Prince’s Trust and with their help, the award winning Jewellery by Lora Leedham was set up on the 1st February 2006.

Since then, Lora has taken part in a series of events and the jewellery has featured in UK and international magazines, such as Grazia, as well as making TV appearances – one of which was worn by Camilla Parker Bowles, on live television; Lora has also created a piece for The Prince of Wales and she has worked with fashion designers, created jewellery for charity events, exhibited at London Fashion Week, created jewellery for catwalks and has created jewellery for a number of celebrities.

Lora is also a Young Ambassador for the Prince’s Trust and delivers speeches around the country at some of the most respected venues and has had audiences including Carol Thatcher, Esther Ramsin and Sir Ben Kingsley.

The jewellery is ecclectic, feminine and organic, portraying an emphasis on texture. Lora uses her hobby of photographing the natural world as a source for her inspration. She particularly looks at the organic forms and textures of nature.

Quality and design are the two key features in Lora Leedham’s work and by incorporating an artistic element with high end materials, such as metals and gemstones; each piece is a luxurious accessory to compliment any outfit and make the wearer feel truly special.
